Our client from Blacktown, was charged with aggravated sexual assault. He appeared before the Blacktown Local Court represented by another law firm and was bail refused.
Steven Mercael was contacted by the family and quickly organised a conference with the client while he was on remand at Silverwater Correctional Centre. After the conference with the client, Steven met with the family and began swift preparations for the Supreme Court Release Application.
Steven Mercael appeared in the Supreme Court two weeks later and argued for the release of his client from custody. Several documents were relied upon including sworn affidavits from the family as well as medical documents of his mother’s poor health conditions.
After a lengthy 1-hour release application, the Judge ultimately granted our clients bail application.
